Kualoa a backdrop for films and TV

The verdant valleys, soaring cliffs and azure seas, make Oahu an ideal place for the filming of movies and TV shows. On the Windward coast is a 4,000 acre cattle ranch - Kualoa whose proximity to Honolulu - a short 45 minutes drive from the airport; offers seclusion, and a breathtaking valley - often referred to as the "backlot of Hawaii". This is an ideal filming locationfor movies and TV. Some of the highlights of the Ranch -

The Ranch House, a covered air-conditioned pavilion with a large lawn, has beautiful views of Moloki'i Island and Kane'ohe Bay. The Pavilion can seat up to 300, while the site can accommodate up to 1000, and has been used for filming - past and present.

The upper lawn of the Ranch House is equipped with a stage, outdoor lighting and picnic style seating, making it an ideal spot for all kinds of Venues and TV shoots. While five minutes away, across the Ancient Hawaiian Fishpond, and bordered by Kane'ohe Bay is the Secret Island where Mangroves and Hua trees border the trails that lead to a secluded white sand beach, where kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, can be enjoyed. There are also dining tents, beach volleyball nets and table tennis available for day time use. This idylic setting is great for many events and movie sets.

Paliku Gardens nestles 1,000 feet above Kualoa on the base of the cliffs, surrounded by tropical gardens and with panoramic ocean views. One of the most scenic spots.

It is possible to ride on a canoe raft across the 800 year old Hawaiian Fishpond, which was built by hand, by the ancient Hawaiians, and used as a means of keeping an abundant supply of fish for the population. It is now a part of the sites used for filming movies and TV shows.
